Taj Mahal by crisurdiales Taj Mahal by crisurdiales
Stillman & Birn Gamma notebook, UniPin liner and watercolors. The famous mausoleum in Agra (India)
Believe it or not, drawing in there is forbidden and, apparently, a security hazard. They even removed a handful of markers I was carrying in a pocket, but I refused to leave my notebook behind. I was never one to follow idiotic rules. Nor to carry all my drawing stuff in the same place :D

Thanks! It was actually forbidden to draw at Taj Mahal, but I managed to smuggle a full box of watercolors inside, while they kept a couple of markers, go figure..

Really? I wonder why... is it also illegal to take photos? I'm glad you broke the rules!

No, you can take as many photos as you want, but they said that drawing was a matter of national security, who knows why. On the other hand, there are places where you can't sit and draw either in countries like US, for example Rockefeller Center. However, I think you can draw standing up, in my experience. Laws are really confusing when something as innocent as drawing is involved o_0

Yeah, that's extremely odd. I can't think of a situation in which photography would be okay but sketching wouldn't be. You would think it'd be the other way around. I'm going to ask the internet :)
